Anime Saimoe Tournament 2011 – Round 1 – B3/B7/B11

The second set of Group B matches have ended and Gertrud, Merry, and Suzuha have won. Here are the results:

Match B2:

1. Gertrud Barkhorn (Strike Witches): 281 votes

2. Shiomiya Shiori (KamiNomi): 228 votes

3. Sairenji Haruna (To Love-Ru): 77 votes

Match B6:

1. Merry Nightmare (Yumekui Merry): 258 votes

2. Kurumi Erika/Cure Marine (Pretty Cure): 182 votes

3. Airi (Queen’s Blade): 122 votes

Match B10:

1. Amane Suzuha (STEINS;GATE): 290 votes

2. Yagyuu Jubei (Hyakka Ryouran Samurai Girls): 154 votes

3. Musubi (Sekirei): 96 votes

As expected, Gertrud and Shiori had a close match with Haruna-chan way behind. Shiori had a small lead in the beginning, but after several hours, Gertrud passed Shiori and maintained the lead for the rest of the match. Merry-chan and Suzuha had an easy time winning after the first hour of votes. That brings my predictions to 13-5 and my picks to 6-12

Here is a look into today’s matches:

Match B3:

Mitsuba Mutsumi (Seitokai Yakuindomo): 10th (Group F3)

Mifune Ryuuko (Denpa Onna): 5th (Group F5)

Kurusu Kanako (OreImo): 6th (Group F11)

Match B7:

Shinonono Tabane (Infinite Stratos):  12th (Group F15)

Pao-Ling Huang (TIGER&BUNNY): 13th (Group F4), 1st (Group S5)

Houjou Ayano (Moshidora): 18th (Group F16), 14th (Group S2)

Match B11:

Minakami Mai (Nichijou): 12th (Group F12)

Tsuchiura Iroha (Onii-chan no Koto Nanka Zenzen Suki Janain dakara ne!!): 12th (Group F10)

Angelene (To Aru Majutsu no Index): 12th (Group F7)

In Match B3, I don’t see Ryuushi (リュウ『コ』やっちゅーに!) having much problem in this match, even though Kanako is from OreImo. In contrast, I think the other two matches are going to be closer. Tabane and Pao-Ling should provide some competition to each other, though I think Tabane has the small advantage. The other match is going to be a close one for all three girls. All of them are around the same level of strength. In fact, all of them just made it to the main tournament through the first preliminary. I do see Mai with a very slight advantage, but in really, all of them have a decent shot of winning. I’ll be voting for Ryuuko-chan, Tabane, and Mai.
