Anime Saimoe Tournament 2011 – Round 1 – A3/A7/A11

The second day of matches has just finished and Astraea, Hideyoshi, and Mizuki have won. Here are the results:

Match A2:

1. Astraea (Sora no Otoshimono): 273 votes

2. Cordelia Glauca (Milky Holmes): 212 votes

3. Nakata Sae (Amagami SS): 100 votes

Match A6:

1. Toyotomi Hideyoshi/Hide Yoshino (Sengoku Otome): 252 votes

2. Eucliwood Hellscythe/Eu (KoreZon): 248 votes

3. Ferris Eris (DenYuuDen): 75 votes

Match A10:

1. Himeji Mizuki (BakaTest): 266 votes

2. Shiina Mayuri (STEINS;GATE): 264 votes

3. Kawashima Minami (Moshidora): 80 votes

Match A2 was not a close match. Astraea easily took the win without having to worry about Cordelia sneaking up. Milky Holmes is just not strong enough to face a Sora no Otoshimono girl. The other two matches were extremely close.

For Match A5, Hideyoshi-chan had a small lead in the beginning. Then, Eu-chan took the slight lead halfway through the match. However, Hideyoshi-chan dominated the last hour, just sneaking past Eu-chan, proving that a cute, whiny school girl who has trouble living in the Sengoku period can beat a quiet, yet powerful necromancer. KoreZon is not very powerful (though they still have more matches to go). Maybe next year Eu-chan.

Match A6 was another very close one, though Mizuki did have a generous lead for most of the match. Then in the last several hours, Mayuri started sneaking up, even taking the lead away from Mizuki for a bit. But at the end, Mayuri couldn’t maintain that lead and Mizuki won. STEINS;GATE isn’t as powerful as I thought. That brings predictions and picks to 3-3. What a rough two days.

Now on to the next set of matches:

Match A3:

Victorique de Blois (GOSICK): 2nd (Group F10)

Nagi (A Channel): 8th (Group F10)

Kosaka Chihiro (KamiNomi): 10th (Group F11)

Match A7:

Ume (Hidamari Sketch): 18th (Group F6), 11th (Group S5)

Carina Verritti (Shukufuku no Campanella): 20th (Group F4), 5th (Group S5)

Tachibana Miya (Amagami SS): 5th (Group F1)

Match A11:

Ricotta Elmar (DOG DAYS): 4th (Group F14)

Minna-Dietlinde Wilcke (Strike Witches): 10th (Group F15)

Tooru (A Channel): 1st (Group F15)

Victorique was one of the girls I thought would give Homura-chan trouble. Of course, Homura-chan is gone, so she has it a bit easier now. I don’t see Victorique losing, though I could be wrong. Miya also should advance with no problem, since she is facing two second preliminary girls. The other match won’t be as close. I think that this match will be a close match between Rico and Tooru, but I think Tooru has that slight advantage over Rico. My votes will be going to Nagi, Carina, and Rico-chan.
