Anime Saimoe Tournament 2011 – First Prelims 7 of 16

With match six finished, the imouto gets the win. Here are the 12 moving on to the first round:

1. Kousaka Kirino (OreImo) – 380 votes

2. Makise Kurisu (STEINS;GATE) – 355 votes

3. Saten Ruiko (To Aru Kagaku no Railgun OVA) – 327 votes

4. Nakano Azusa (K-On!!) – 306 votes

5. Astraea (Sora no Otoshimono) – 238 votes

6. Amakusa Shino (Seitokai Yakuindomo) – 213 votes

7. Nagatsuki Sanae (Ika Musume) – 203 votes

8. Tsurumi Chiriko/Tsuruko (AnoHana) – 182 votes

9. Tooyama Saku (Milky Holmes) – 177 votes

10. Tokugawa Ieyasu (Sengoku Otome) – 164 votes

11. Yukionna (Nurarihyon no Mago) – 158 votes

11. Sawanatsu Kotone (Softenni) – 158 votes

Some things learned from this round:

1. If there’s someone or some group that will beat Madoka, it will not be K-On!!. True it’s just the preliminaries and their fans could be waiting until the first round to start voting, but this tournament is occurring at the worst time for HTT. With the second season having ended in September (OVA in March) and the movie showing in December, combined with the unbounded popularity of Madoka, which only ended three months ago, if they want to win again, they will need to be lucky.

2. Ruiko-chan still has it in her. She was only in one OVA in October of last year, but she managed to beat the champion by a generous amount of votes.

3. Negima doesn’t have a chance. Well, they never had a chance during the other tournaments, but this is especially true this year. Last year, Yue was 10th in her first preliminary. This year, she barely escaped elimination, tied for 33th. Another first preliminary advancer last year, Secchan, also needs to wait another preliminary.

For today, maybe Ui has a chance of taking top spot. But she has to face Itsuwa-chan, and Nakochi, and Minchi. Other possible advancers are Kanade-chan, Sera, Sheryl Nome, maybe Hata, and Charlotte E. Yeagar. I’ll be voting for Itsuwa-chan, Kanade-chan, Irie-chan, Black Rock Shooter, Nakochi, Minchi, Ui, Asuna, Sera, and Konomi-chan.
