Anime Saimoe Tournament – Round 1 – G5/H5

Yesterday’s matches have just ended and Momoko and Ruiko-chan have won. Here is a summary of those matches:

Match G4:

1. Touyoko Momoko (Saki): 549 votes

2. Hirasawa Ui (K-On!!): 525 votes

3. Ryuumonbuchi Touka (Saki): 66 votes

4. Kondou Mikoto (Kampfer): 40 votes

Match H4:

1. Saten Ruiko (Railgun): 652 votes

2. Sae (Hidamari Sketch): 201 votes

3. Winry Rockbell (FMA): 115 votes

4. Hisako (Angel Beats!): 76 votes

The group G match was basically a match between one of Saki’s powerful (and sneaky) girls, Momoko, and one of K-On!!’s not-so-powerful girls, Ui. Having Touka in this match didn’t effect Momoko enough to give Ui the win. Ui stayed pretty close to Momoko and at times, she had the lead, but at the end, Momoko ended up winning. Did Saki gain more enemies by winning? Maybe, maybe not, but having Ui lose to Momoko is not as bad as having Uiharu lose to Hisa by one vote. We’ll see soon enough though. Nothing surprising happened in the group H match. As expected, level 0 Ruiko-chan easily won her match with an enormous margin and the most votes in the main tournament, surpassing Kanade-chan. That brings my predictions to 46-16 and my picks to 32-30.

Here are the two matches that will be going on today:

Match G5:

Eruru (Utawarerumono): 9th (Group F6)

Taneshima Poplar (WORKING!!): 2nd (Group F1)

Kongou Mitsuko (Railgun): 19th (Group F1), 7th (Group S1)

Kan’u (Koihime Musou): 8th (Group F16)

Match H5:

Harukaze Chiharu (Hayate): 17th (Group F4), 8th (Group S3)

Kotobuki Tsumugi (K-On!!): 3rd (Group F15)

Ryuuguu Rena (Higurashi): 5th (Group F11)

Kotegawa Yui (To Love-Ru): 7th (Group F15)

A long, long time ago, Eruru twice did very well. Last year, she made it to the group finals, losing to Mihoko and in 2006, she made it to the quarterfinals, losing to Fate-chan. Unfortunately for her, she will be facing the popular Poplar-chan. This short waitress did very well in the preliminaries and she should do very well again. Eruru might give her a challenge, but Poplar-chan should advance. I will also be voting for her.

This other match is going to be between HTT’s rich, tea-making keyboardist, a crazy girl that wants to take things home, and an uptight tsundere. Unfortunately for Rena-chan, she is past her prime and for Yui-chan, she has to face someone that she lost already. Though she won’t be getting help from the other Yui (to make things clear, Angel Beats!’s Yui is Yui-nyan, To Love-Ru’s Yui is Yui-chan, and K-On!!’s Yui is just Yui), Mugi might have some trouble, but I think she’ll win this. I’ll still be voting for Yui-chan though because she’s a cute, tsundere girl.
