Anime Saimoe Tournament – Round 1 – E8/F8

The seventh day of E and F group matches are over and Cecily and Hitagi won their matches. Here is a summary of those two matches:

Match E7:

1. Cecily Cambell (The Sacred Blacksmith): 246 votes

2. Mikogami Nagisa (Anyamal Tantei Kiruminzoo): 163 votes

3. Andou Mahoro (Mahoromatic): 135 votes

4. Hanazono Sakura (Kaichou wa Maid-sama): 90 votes

Match F7:

1. Senjougahara Hitagi (Bakemonogatari): 408 votes

2. Furude Rika (Higurashi): 345 votes

3. Mina Tepes (Dance in the Vampire Bund): 46 votes

4. Kurumizawa Ume (Kimi ni Todoke): 23 votes

Unlike Lisa, who had a tough time during most of the match, Cecily had no problem taking the match. The other match yesterday was a very close match between Rika-chan and Hitagi. Rika-chan had a slight lead in the beginning of the match. After midway through the match, Hitagi caught up to Rika-chan and then, she ran away with the victory at the end. Rika-chan’s Nipah’s could not give her the win. She did give Hitagi a good match, but unfortunately for her, she is past her prime. At least she was able to win a tournament. That brings my predictions to 37-13 and my picks to 26-24.

Here is a look into today’s matches:

Match E8:

Nakamachi Kana (Kanamemo): 6th (Group F3)

Sangou Shizuku (Kampfer): 14th (Group F1), 1st (Group S1)

Ekaterina Kurae (Seikon no Qwaser): 20th (Group F13), 11th (Group S1)

Ryougi Shiki (Kara no Kyoukai): 21st (Group F11), 24th (Group S1)

Match F8:

Shiina Minatsu (Seitokai no Ichizon): 5th (Group F4)

Koume (Hanamaru Kindergarten): 7th (Group F11)

Tainaka Ritsu (K-On!!): 4th (Group F4)

Cal Devens (Phantom ~Requiem for the Phantom): 20th (Group F5), 23rd (Group S2)

In match E8, Kana was the only one of the four to advance in the first preliminary. Shizuku barely missed it by two votes, but ended up taking first in the second preliminary. I don’t think that Shizuku will enough power to beat Kana today. I will be voting for Kana in this match.

Match F8 is going to be interesting. This is going to be a match between Minatsu-chan, Ricchan, and to a smaller extent, Koume. We’ve actually seen this matchup before between Minatsu-chan and Ricchan and that was in the first preliminary. This was a pretty close match with Minatsu-chan’s sister, Mafuyu-chan, taking the win. Who won the matchup between the two? Ricchan won the matchup by a generous margin. Mafuyu-chan’s win earlier may give Minatsu-chan some fuel, but I think that Ricchan will still win this match. I will also be voting for Ricchan.
